Skysport.de is free to access and will offer sports news and highlights from around the world – including coverage of tennis tournament Wimbledon, which started this week.

The online and mobile service will show highlights from Sky Germany’s exclusive sports rights portfolio, such as the UEFA Champions League and the Handball Bundesliga.

It will also offer a livestream of 24-hour sports news channel, Sky Sport News HD, which  Sky first started to broadcast on free TV in December 2016.

“With the new sports portal skysport.de, we are expanding our attractive and diverse range of sports with another medium,” said Sky chief editor, Burkhard Weber.

“Together with our exclusive live content, Sky Sport News HD and social media offerings, our digital platform will form the pillars of our Sky Sport brand and will be convincing thanks to our exclusive video content.”

Sky Media managing director, Thomas Deissenberger, said that the launch of skysport.de is also an important step for Sky Germany’s marketing strategy.

“Through skysport.de we extend the range of advertising possibilities for our partners in a top sports environment and create a platform for completely new creative and integrative forms of advertising.”
