Walmart’s on-demand video streaming service, Vudu, is now letting users convert their DVDs into digital titles from its mobile apps.
The ‘Disc to Digital’ service lets users convert Blu-ray and DVD discs to digital movies from a compatible phone.
The service costs US$2 to convert a DVD to an SD digital title or to convert a Blu-ray to an HD digital title. For US$5 users can convert a DVD to an HD-resolution digital title.
“Going digital lets you watch your movies anytime, anywhere, download your titles for offline viewing on your mobile device, and never worry about scratching those discs again,” said Vudu in a company blog post.
“Scan the UPC [barcode], choose a resolution for conversion, and then watch your new digital movie. Ta-da! It’s not complicated. It’s Vudu.”
