Best-of-web aggregator ZoneTV buys 1,500-hours of MCN content

Zone TVUS-based channel operator ZoneTV has acquired a 1,500-hour package of programming from ProSiebenSat.1-backed MCN Studio71.

ZoneTV aggregates web series and content and repackages them for its service for traditional pay TV platforms. It has deals with AT&T, Comcast and DirecTV and is run by Jeff Weber, who was previously in charge AT&T’s U-Verse IPTV service.

Comcast, AT&T U-verse, DirecTV, CenturyLink, Telus, Bell Canada and Frontier Communication

The ZoneTV package includes a range of lifestyle content across kids and family, girls, teens, food and speciality categories.

Specific programme titles include Epic Meal Time, Household Hacker, The Backyard Scientist, Elite Daily and Flula.

“Our licensees are already drawing large audiences on the web,” said Adam Boorstin, executive vice president, global digital distribution, Studio71.

“Our arrangement with ZoneTV will allow these online producers to expand the reach of their programming to an incremental television audience.”
