US news broadcaster CNN has officially launched CNNVR, its new immersive journalism unit and virtual reality platform.
The global division, which sits within CNN Digital, will cover major news events in 360-video and produce weekly virtual reality experiences.
CNN said that its new VR platform will make it easier to access this content on every device.
CNN’s iOS and Android apps now support 360-video and CNNVR’s content will also be distributed across all major headsets – Samsung GearVR, Oculus Rift and Google Daydream.
“Today, this new dedicated team is committed to harnessing the power of virtual reality to transport our audience inside the stories we tell all around the globe,” said CNN in a statement.
“Whenever news breaks, and wherever amazing stories unfold, CNNVR will transport our audience closer than ever before and on every device available.”
