Facebook CEO denies Oculus technology theft

Oculus RiftFacebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg appeared in a US court yesterday to deny claims that Oculus Rift used stolen technology to create its VR headset.

Zuckerberg’s appearance was part of a jury trial that commenced earlier this year, after videogame firm ZeniMax Media accused Oculus of stealing elements of the technology that went into the creation of the headset.

According to a New York Times report, ZeniMax sued Oculus shortly after Facebook announced in 2014 that it would buy the virtual reality start-up, in a case that could cost the social network billions in damages if it loses.

“We are highly confident that Oculus products are built on Oculus technology,” Zuckerberg reportedly testified. “The idea that Oculus products are based on someone else’s technology is just wrong.”

The case continues.
