Starz adds Spotify to TV Everywhere app

starz-spotifyStarz has done a deal with Spotify that will allow users of its updated premium app to access music from the premium cabler’s shows.

Starz playlists will be added to Spotify meanwhile, as part of the agreement.

The music available on Spotify will come from Starz original series including 50 Cent-produced show Power (pictured). there will also be music from movies including Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The integration will allow Spotify premium subs full access to the tracks in question. Spotify free subs will only get 30-second snippets of the songs.

“Spotify integration will complement and fortify the Starz app’s appeal for distributors and consumers alike,” said Jeffrey Hirsch, Starz COO.

“Boasting great premium content, download capabilities, and wide availability for free use by participating cable, satellite and telco providers and a low monthly price of just $8.99 for direct subscriptions, the Starz app has burst onto the OTT landscape, quickly become a leading player in the space.”

In related news, Starz’ Middle East and North Africa OTT joint venture Starz Play Arabia has beefed up its 4K offering with the addition of Starz originals Power and The Girlfriend Experience to the 4K line-up.
