Finnish broadcaster Yle has launched a new app for its online catch-up and live TV service Yle Areena for Apple TV devices.
The new Areena app, which is free of charge, can be installed from the app store via an Apple TV device.
All video content published on Areena can be watched through the app including some TV channels and live broadcasts exclusive to Areena.
The Areena Apple TV app is also the first app for smart TV and games console devices in which the user can sign in using Yle ID – Yle Tunnus.
After logging in, authenticated users can, among other things, resume watching a programme that they have previously been watching on a mobile device from the point where it was stopped and add programmes to their own favourite list. As a new feature, the app automatically starts the next episode when watching a series.
The Areena Apple TV app works in the most recent fourth-generation Apple TV devices. The app was developed through a partnership between Yle and the Swedish company Accedo.
