Kaltura has announced the release of a new version of its MediaGo OTT TV application for iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, the web and connected devices.

With the update, Kaltura has added support for Amazon Fire and Android TV devices and expanded its support for connected TV devices.

Media companies can now launch OTT services on 10 devices covering mobile, web, TVs and connected devices using the MediaGo template app.

AppleTV, Roku, Xbox and five different connected TVs are already supported and the TV apps have been upgraded with the ability to replay live TV, improved search and personalised recommendations based on users’ Facebook friends.

The new template app also supports the latest release of the Kaltura video player and is designed to make it easier for users to access free content and purchase subscriptions of standalone videos. The player also supports all major DRM technologies and download capabilities.

“When launching an OTT service, customers tell us that time to market and flexibility are key. Unfortunately the two don’t always go hand in hand. But with MediaGo, customers can launch a highly professional, robust OTT service with all the latest bells and whistles within a matter of a few short months, while also benefiting from Kaltura’s range of template designs and tools that add that all-important flexibility and customisation,” said Kaltura co-founder, chairman and CEO, Ron Yekutiel.
