PCCW Media has launched a new integrated 4K UHD set-top, the Now One, to provide a platform for home entertainment, apps and recording. The company will deploy Enable in the Now One to offer advanced features for the 4K offering and support apps for information and customer support, according to Amino.
Now One is a hybrid device enabling viewers to receive content delivered via the Now TV IPTV service, digital-terrestrial TV and OTT, including Netflix 4K content.
The operator plans to roll out 4K content to complement Netflix’s 4K titles and other content during the course of this year.
“As the largest pay-TV and a leading OTT service provider in Hong Kong, Now TV understands customer needs and continually innovates to meet customers’ different viewing habits. Now One, the centerpiece of home entertainment comprising all features in one appliance, necessitates an advanced, robust and flexible software platform to realize our vision and mission,” said Belinda Chan, SVP of technology and operations, PCCW Media.
“Amino’s Enable TV and its professional development team provide strong support to PCCW Media, creating a unique and powerful platform for today and future service innovations. For instance, on top of Enable TV software, PCCW Media is integrating our next generation user interface (UX3) empowering customers to access rich content offerings with greater ease.”
Amino CEO Donald McGarva said: “This exciting new software licensing contract underlines the breadth and depth of the entertainment delivery solutions that we can now offer customers under the Amino brand. PCCW Media is one of the most advanced and sophisticated service providers in the world and we’re delighted to be supporting them as they deliver this market leading and innovative service to their customers. We have worked very closely with PCCW Media to develop a common, robust and scalable platform that combines hybrid TV, IPTV, Android apps and key customer support functionality.”
