AMC Networks International (AMCNI) has partnered with operator beIN to launch five channels in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

Under the deal, AMC will become exclusively available to beIN subscribers in the region in HD.

Four other newly-localised, premium AMCNI channels will also launch on the beIN platform – CBS Reality, Extreme Sports Channel, Outdoor Channel and pre-school network JimJam.

“This agreement allows AMCNI to further expand our footprint and strengthen many of our international brands,” said Ed Palluth, executive vice-president of global distribution, AMCNI.

Yousef Al-Obaidly, deputy CEO of beIN Media Group, said: “beIN’s foray into entertainment content has been extremely successful as the platform has been able to attract a number of high quality global and premium content partners during the course of the last few months. Partnering with AMCNI is yet another important milestone for beIN.”

“At the same time, AMCNI announced it has acquired AMC Studios’ upcoming drama series The Terror. This will premiere exclusively on AMC Global next year in territories worldwide – include the MENA region.”

The channels are due to go live across 21 countries in the region on August 1.
