Virgin Media targets London for fibre build-out

Virgin Media Abbey_Road_VMLiberty Global-owned Virgin Media is to build out its fibre network to a further 450,000 homes and businesses in London as part of its Project Lightning investment programme.

Having built out to 100,000 premises in the capital since 2014, Viorgin Media now says it is on track to build out ultra-fast broadband to a further 100,000 by early next year, with the remaining 250,000 to be covered by the end of 2018.

The expansion will include 6,000 premises in Westminster and a significant investment in Barnet which will see fibre connected directly to 40,000 homes and businesses. Other areas where Virgin Media will build include Greenford, Southall, Hammersmith & Fulham, Twickenham, St John’s Wood, Bexley and Croydon.
