SMPTE UK appoints DTG’s Simon Gauntlett as chairman

The UK Section of the Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers (SMPTE) has appointed the DTG’s chief technology officer (CTO), Simon Gauntlett, as its chairman.

Gauntlett, who has been an active SMPTE member since 2011, said: “I’m delighted that my colleagues in SMPTE have elected me as Chairman and I’m looking forward to driving SMPTE’s UK Section forward in this centennial year.”

DTG CEO Richard Lindsay-Davies said: “Simon’s appointment as SMPTE UK Chair recognises the ongoing importance of industry collaboration, standards and education which the DTG stands for. This follows the appointment of Ian Medland, Head of Technical Development at DTG Testing onto the HbbTV Steering Group in April.”
