NTV+ moves forward with MPEG-4 migration
Russian pay TV operator NTV+ is now broadcasting the majority of channels on its platform in the MPEG-4 format.
The broadcaster began the process of transitioning its channels to MPEG-4 in March in order to increase the number of channels it carried without adding to space segment costs. It said that the staged reduction in the number of MPEG-2 channels on the platform had enabled it to increase the number of HD channels it broadcast.
The number of HD services on NTV+ now numbers 37.
