UGC platform ALTV.com available in MENA

ALTV.comIreland-based ALTV.com, the Dublin-based user-generated content streaming service backed by Irish-American media entrepreneur David McCourt and targeted at underserved areas of the world, has now launched commercially.

ALTV.com is available in the Middle East and North Africa, with further expansion planned for South America and sub-Saharan Africa. The aim of the service is to target younger viewers with user-generated content from their own markets.

The service’s backers plan to launch a social media campaign featuring a number of brand ambassadors to raise awareness of the service over the coming weeks.

A TV producer, McCourt produced the American children’s television series Reading Rainbow and Miracle’s Boys, as well as documentaries with Angelina Jolie in Tanzania and Michael Douglas in Sierra Leone.

He also served as a board member of the company that eventually become WorldCom. More recently, he has served as chairman and CEO of Satellite Holdings, operator of satellite ground terminal provider Skyware Global.

“ALTV is solving the growing global challenge being faced in areas of the world that are currently underserved – connecting creative content developers to engaged audiences. It provides a platform to help train and empower talented individuals and gives them the ability to distribute their content to a huge audience,” said McCourt.

“By collaborating with the best and most creative presenters and producers in each region, nurturing talent through training, supplying facilities and supplying facilities and responding to what consumers want, ALTV understands the dramatic changes in media consumption that are taking place and offers younger, tech-savvy audiences more relevant, captivating content that reflects how they live. Our responsiveness and relevance, together with the creative brilliance of our contributors will make us number one for vibrant, must-see local content in every underserved area of the world.”
