Sky launches new family movie channel in Germany

Sky in Germany and Austria is to launch a new family-oriented movie channel in September.

Sky Cinema Family HD will launch exclusively in Germany and Austria on September 22, including titles such as Hotel Transylvania 2, Minions Cinderella, Ice Age 1-3 and Spiderman 2. Content from the channel will also be available on-demand via Sky On Demand and Sky Go.

The channel will be available in the Sky Cinema package both in HD and SD for all satellite customers. The standard-definition version will also be available via selected cable operators.

Sky is also rebranding its movie channels in Germany using the Sky Cinema brand that is also being implemented in the UK. Sky Hits HD will become Sky Cinema Hits HD, while Sky Comedy will be rebranded as Sky Cinema Comedy. Sky Action HD will become SkyCinema Action HD, while Sky Emotion will become Sky Cinema Emotion and Sky Nostalgie will become Sky Cinema Nostalgie.
