Sony is working on an advanced version of its PlayStation 4 games console that will include 4K support.

The upgraded version of the console will include a faster processor, better graphics and support for Ultra HD resolution, according to industry reports.

A spokesperson for Sony told the Wall Street Journal that it is working on a “high-end PlayStation 4,” but did not give details about launch date.

Sony Interactive Entertainment president Andrew House told the Financial Times that the new PS4 will be more expensive than the current model and will “sit alongside and complement” the current generation PS4.

The news came ahead of the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) video game conference in Los Angeles, though Sony is not expected to showcase the new device at the event.
