Tricolor reaches 7 million HD customers

Russian pay TV provider Tricolor TV increased its number of HD subscribers by 6% in Q1 to exceed 7 million subscriber homes.

Tricolor said that in the three months ending March 31 it connected 424,100 HD TV customers and that its overall Tricolor TV subscriber base increased to 11.87 million homes.

Nearly a third of all new subscribers choose the package “Edinyi Multi”, priced at RUB2000 per-year, which enables customers to watch high-definition television channels on several screens, the company said.

“The main task of Tricolor TV” is to justify the trust of customers, to confirm that millions of Russians have made the right choice when asked us for digital TV,” said Alexey Karpov, Tricolor TV’s director of sales and customer service.

“Moreover, in 2017 we plan to give up outdated MPEG-2 broadcasting, and this will increase the quantity and quality of TV channels, including high-definition and ultra high-definition ones.”

Overall, Tricolor reported a 32% year-on-year increase in the operator’s income in the first quarter, which came to RUB3.4 billion.
