Samsung launches UHD Blu-ray player in UK

Samsung Electronics UK has launched its first Ultra HD Blu-ray player in the UK, it announced today.

The UBD-K8500 is high dynamic range (HDR) compatible and offers four times the resolution of a conventional Blu-ray player, according to the company.

“At Samsung, we’re committed to developing technology that creates the best possible entertainment experience. With the launch of our first UHD Blu-Ray player, users can enjoy a wide range of movies and shows in outstanding quality, sharp resolution and brilliant colour, without WiFi bandwidth restrictions,” said Robert King, vice-president, consumer electronics, Samsung UK and Ireland.

The UBD-K8500 is available to buy online and in stores including Currys, John Lewis and Richer Sounds at a recommended retail price of £430.
