RTL is due to roll out RTL II You at the end of May, a new online service that will combine on-demand content and linear streaming.

The free interactive platform will combine the roles of “traditional, linear TV and autonomous content selection” and will mainly target 14 to 25 year-olds, according to RTL.

RTL II You will focus on “fresh, youthful formats” with only a relatively small amount of content coming from the linear RTL II network.

“There will be lots of new and attractive content, whether produced in-house, commissioned or bought in. YouTube stars will also feature,” said RTL II managing director Andreas Bartl, speaking to German magazine Horizont.

The offering is designed to appeal to young people’s viewing habits, with many of the formats to adopt a “typical vlogging style”.

RTL II You’s daytime schedule will be dominated by beauty, fashion and lifestyle programming, while evenings will focus on gaming, sport and comedy, said RTL.
