Vivendi launches ‘first global premium series’ offering for mobile

The Vivendi office is seen in Paris on Wednesday, May 17, 2006.Vivendi has launched Studio+, described by the media giant as the first global offering of premium series for mobile devices.

According to Vivendi, Studio+ groups under a single brand the production of premium series created exclusively for smartphones and tablets, along with a dedicated app with advanced features.

Studio+ will create series of five to 10 minutes in length, based on partnerships with a number of established production partners and new producers focusing exclusively on mobile content.

Vivendi said the unit had already produced a large number of series in five languages in 16 different countries over the last few months. It said that it objective was to create series with a strong local feel capable of attracting a global audience.

Studio+ will offer a raft of 25 original series, with a new series to be launched each week. Titles available at launch include Amnesia, featuring Caroline Proust (L’Engrenages), action series Brutal, with David Belle, Tank with Alban Lenoir and Zita Hanriot, Blanca with Carlos Bardem and Urban Jungle. Other titles include Madame Hollywood and Kill Skills.

The accompanying Studio+ app has been developed by Canal+ and Vivendi OTT service Watchever’s staff and is designed to enable easy navigation and facilitate different viewing modes including ‘bingeing’ and ‘slow watching’ according to Vivendi.

Vivendi said the service would launch in 20 countries in Europe and Latin America between now and the end of the year in partnership with local service providers. Further deployments are envisaged for 2017.

Studio+ is headed by Manuel Alduy and Gilled Galud, who report to Dominque Delport, president of Vivendi Content.
