Ukraine-based video-on-demand service Megogo has launched a film distribution arm, in a bid to expand its business among independent film distributors.
Megogo Distribution will be led by director general Katerina Morozova – a former executive at Russian film companies Volga and A Company.
Megogo’s current shareholders will own the business with Vladimir Artemenko, the owner of TopFilm Distribution, also coming onboard as a co-owner.
Megogo CEO Vladimir Borovik said that the launch of Megogo Distribution was a natural step for the company and marks an extension of the firm’s strong brand into the traditional cinema business. He added that Megogo’s online marketing experience will also help it to promote cinema releases.
