A survey of industry experts has show the vast majority expect to see more direct-to-consumer services from content companies, and also more authenticated TV Everywhere services launching in the EMEA region.
The 3Vision consultancy surveyed key industry figures across production, distribution, broadcasting and technology, and 85% of respondents said there will be an increase in D2C service.
3Vision added that 81% of respondents said there will be more authenticated TV Everywhere appsacross EMEA, and that apps from pay TV platforms, such as Sky Go and Horizon Go, will become the primary method of accessing content from existing channel brands on the go.
In terms of initiatives being launched by pay TV operators, respondents ranked the roll out of TV Everywhere services as the most important.
Asked about content trends, respondents said that trend for commissioning and airing more drama will continue through 2016, and there isn’t, as has been suggested, a bubble developing.
