France’s VOD Factory taps DVMR for MPEG-DASH delivery platform

FNAC PlayFrench white label video-on-demand provider VOD Factory has tapped IP video services specialist DVMR to provide a MPEG-DASH-based content delivery platform to feed its CDN  for customers including retail chain FNAC.

DVMR has designed a platform for VOD Factory that receives new content, transcodes it into MPEG-DASH format, adds a layer of Marlin, PlayReady or Widevine encryption, manages subtitles and delivers media streams to the CDN.

DVMR is also delivering day-to-day supervision of the platform hosted in its premises.

VOD Factory accounts for over 20% of the French VoD market, with customers that include SFR, Tévolution, and Allbrary. The group has a catalogue of 17,000 titles, acquired from more than 70 content suppliers.

“DVMR expertise and know-how have enabled us to successfully and quickly launch our new service,” said VOD Factory technical director Sylvain Barthélemy.

“Their technical expertise and responsiveness ensure a smooth and rapid transition from the prototype to its implementation. Many customers, including FNAC with its new VOD offering called FnacPLAY, already benefit from the efficiency of the DVMR platform.”
