French white label video-on-demand provider VOD Factory has tapped IP video services specialist DVMR to provide a MPEG-DASH-based content delivery platform to feed its CDN for customers including retail chain FNAC.
DVMR has designed a platform for VOD Factory that receives new content, transcodes it into MPEG-DASH format, adds a layer of Marlin, PlayReady or Widevine encryption, manages subtitles and delivers media streams to the CDN.
DVMR is also delivering day-to-day supervision of the platform hosted in its premises.
VOD Factory accounts for over 20% of the French VoD market, with customers that include SFR, Tévolution, and Allbrary. The group has a catalogue of 17,000 titles, acquired from more than 70 content suppliers.
“DVMR expertise and know-how have enabled us to successfully and quickly launch our new service,” said VOD Factory technical director Sylvain Barthélemy.
“Their technical expertise and responsiveness ensure a smooth and rapid transition from the prototype to its implementation. Many customers, including FNAC with its new VOD offering called FnacPLAY, already benefit from the efficiency of the DVMR platform.”
Mourad Redouane, co-founder of DVMR, said: “MPEG-DASH adjusts video quality to the available bandwidth, thus speeding up downloads for subscribers and eliminating freezing risks.
