Orange now has over one million fibre broadband customers. The milestone was marked by the group’s CEO Stéphane Richard via Twitter.

The figure means that Orange serves about one in four of France’s high-speed internet customers, which numbered 3.9 million at the end of September, according to figures released by telecom regulator ARCEP.

According to the regulator’s figures, France had 1.255 million fibre-to-the-home subscribers at the end of the third quarter, with a further 1.135 million taking a high-speed cable service offering over 100Mbps and 1.495 million taking a cable service of between 30Mbps and 100Mbps.

Orange fibre is now available to over five million households in 800 communities across metropolitan France and overseas departments.
