Apple TV moves into news with Watchup

Apple TV WatchupApple has added streaming news service Watchup as an app on its fourth generation Apple TV devices.

Watchup offers local, national and international video content from a range of 160 news sources in a single app. Watchup for Apple TV features on-demand streaming of a user’s personalized newscast in addition to continuous streaming by topic, location or outlet.

The service has recently expanded onto a number of new platforms in the US and struck content partnerships with a growing list of news organisations, including Bloomberg, PBS, CNN, CBS Interactive, the Financial Times, Fox News, Fusion, Sky News, the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post.

In addition to Apple TV, Watchup is available on the iPhone and iPad.

Viewers can stream their news continuously or set up a daily, customized newscast that is delivered to their device.

In the US, Watchup features local news from more than 100 TV stations representing more than 80% of all US markets.
