Liberty Global-owned German cable operator Unitymedia has begun a network upgrade programme to double its available internet speeds to 400Mbps.
The company has begun work in Frankfurt to make 400mbps speeds avaiable in the city and surrounding region, with an immediate plan to market the service to 245,000 of the operator’s 410,000 homes in the area. Unitymedia will continue to upgrade its network in Frankfurt and other areas over the coming months.
The Max 400 service will be added to Unitymedia’s portfolio of services as of February 1 as a pure internet product or in combination with telephony and TV services.
In parallel, Untymedia is investing in WiFi networks, with over 1,000 public access points already available in 100 towns and cities.
