Altice moves forward with Portugal Telecom restructuring

Portugal TelecomCable and telecom investor Altice has taken another step in the process of simplifying the structure of Portugal Telecom, which it acquired earlier this year.

According to Portuguese paper Diario Económico, the board of the company, which operates under the Meo brand, has approved the fusion of business-focused units PT Pro and PT Corporate Centre, having previously reduced the number of departments in the company from 76 to 42 as it seeks to reduce costs and realise synergies.

PT Pro and PT Corporate Centre provide business advisory and consulting services, among other things.

Altice has decided to create a technology centre that will serve other entities in the Altice Group, created from the combination of PT’s Oeiras and Tagus Park facilities.
