Panasonic, which was the first manufacturer to offer Freeview Play, the on-demand service provided by the UK’s main national broadcasters, via its smart TVs, will now enable access to the service via its DVR and Blu-rauy products. From December 1, owners of internet-connected PVR and Blu-Ray models with ‘Freeview Play inside’ will receive an on-screen alert to download a firmware upgrade. This upgrade will update software, making Freeview Play available from the TV guide as well as the Freeview Play home page.
Freeview Play will be available on Panasonic’s new 2015 line-up of PVR and Blu-ray products; the DMR-BWT850, DMR-PWT655, DMR-PWT550, DMR-HWT250 and DMR-HWT150. Panasonic has added a Freeview Play button to its remote controls, giving quick, one-touch access to the service.
