Vodafone Portugal to extend FTTH to further half million homes

Vodafone Portugal has said it will extend its fibre-to-the-home network to an additional 550,000 homes between now and the end of 2016.

The network expansion will take Vodafone’s FTTH network to 2.75 million Portuguese homes in total, representing over two in three homes in the country, with a total investment of €125 million.

The company says its network currently reaches 2.2 million homes, exceeding the previously stated target of 2.1 million.

Vodafone Portugal CEO Mário Vaz said that the company was committed to do everything necessary to bring its service to its customers, whether than meant building its own network, sharing resources with other telecom providers, co-investing in network construction or even coming to wholesale agreements.
