India’s Times Now launches in the UK, more Euro rollouts planned

Times_NOW_logo-jpgTimes Now, the 24-hour English news channel from India’s Times Group, has launched in the UK with further European rollouts planned to follow.

The Mumbai-based channel is available now on Sky on channel number 576, with the launch described by the Times Group as the “most important” expansion of the channel since its international debut in America in 2011.

“[The] UK is probably our biggest diaspora market. With this launch, we have just started building our presence in the European market and we intend to enter France and Germany too by next year,” said the CEO and managing director of Times Network, M K Anand.

“The success of Times Now among viewers here [in India] has encouraged us to launch it for Indians who live abroad and want to keep completely abreast of all the important news of their country and its growing eminence in the world.”

Quoted in the Times Group-owned Times of India, Times Now editor-in-chief, Arnab Goswami, added that the channel would “eventually develop” original content for the British and global audiences.

Times Now is available across India via analogue and digital cable and DTH, and on mobile through the Reliance and Idea services. The channel can be viewed live outside of India via WatchIndia.TV.
