Icflix has ordered Dunia, a new animated series for kids that will be an original for its Middle East and North African SVOD service.
The streaming service has a dedicated kids app, Icflix kids, and Dunia will launch on that as well as its core OTT offering.
The ten-part show will follow Dunia, a 12-year-old female Arabian superhero who uses martial art skills to fight injustice and promote positive social behaviour.
The show will debut on Icflix in December. It was produced in Arabic, but will also be available in English and French.
“The series aims not only to entertain but also educate children with important social messages,” said Fadi Mehio, co-founder and chairman, Icflix. “Dunia will have the potential to become a positive role model for children across the Arab world, sending out strong messages of awareness to children and adults alike.”
Icflix said Dunia will be one of several upcoming original kids shows with five more set to be announced shortly.
