Orange TV numbers boosted by Spain

Orange had 7.658 million TV customers at the end of the quarter, up from 7.435 million quarter-on-quarter and from 6.956 million year-on-year, with growth being led by Spain.

In Spain, which included the acquisition of Jazztel, Orange saw strong TV growth, fuelled by its ability to offer Champions League football through a deal with Mediapro for the BeIN Sports service, with numbers rising to 215,000 TV customers from 137,000 the previous quarter and from 89,000 a year earlier.

Orange’s Spanish fixed-line business saw solid broadband growth, but revenues for the quarter were hit relative to growth in the second quarter due to the performance of fixed voice and international carrier services.

In France, IPTV and satellite subscribers numbered 6.27 million, up from 6.15 million on the previous quarter and from 5.9 million a year earlier.

In Poland, the group saw modest growth, with IPTV and satellite TV customers numbering 774,000, up from 761,000 in June and up from 735,000 last September. The Polish business saw a decline in fixed broadband numbers, although high-speed broadband services did well, with 271,000 high-speed customers helping to raise fixed line ARPU.
