CTC Media hails success of second screen app

Russian broadcaster CTC Media’s second screen app has been downloaded 330,000 times in the month since its launch, the company has said.

The CTC Second Screen app uses audio synchronization of mobile devices with the TV to allow viewers to gain access to additional content related to shows on their mobile devices.

Early uses of the channel-wide app include Nearmedic integrating an ad for its Kagocel health supplement brand. When bad weather appears on the TV screen, users smartphones display what CTC says is an unobtrusive ad reminding viewers of the importance of improving their immune system.

“These results are truly impressive. More than 300,000 of our viewers have installed our application within just a month. Several successful launches in September, including the Londongrad drama, as well as Kitchen, Last of the Magikyans and the Voroniny TV series, boosted viewer interest to CTC Channel and its application. I am confident that we will keep building on our success month after month, while our app will be attracting new advertisers,” said Alexey Pivovarov, director of Transmedia projects department, CTC Media.
