NTV+ secures Russian football rights

NTV+ has signed a new agreement with the Russian Premier League giving the pay TV broadcaster the right to show matches from Russia’s Rosgosstrakh football championship in Russia and abroad, including in the CIS countries, for three years.

NTV+ will this year air 40 key matches on nationwide broadcast channels, while all matches will be made available on its thematic sports channels. For the remaining two years of the deal, at least 45 matches will be aired on the broadcaster’s new nationwide sports channel Match TV.

NTV+ CEO Alexander Vronsky said that the broadcaster plans to introduce new forms of presentation and graphic analysis of matches and will launch second-screen applications to complement views of the action on the main screen.

Russian Premier League president Sergey Pryadkin said that interest in Russian football around the world was growing in advance of the 2018 World Cup and that he was pleased to strike a new deal with “our long-standing and reliable partner NTV+”.
