Virgin Media to upgrade Nottingham for ultra-fast broadband

VirginManchester043_1Liberty Global-owned cable operator Virgin Media has committed £25 million (€34 million) to upgrade homes and busiensses in Nottingham, enabling them to receive ultra-fast broadband services.

This latest investment by Virgin Media is part of its £3 billion programme to connect four million UK homes and business over the next five years.  The company has so far earmarked access to ultrafast broadband for over a quarter of
a million homes and businesses in Manchester, Leeds and now Nottingham, with more cities to be announced soon, according to Virgin Media.

The Nottingham investment covers homes and businesses in ottingham city centre, suburbs and surrounding towns such as Mansfield, Newark-upon-Trent and Grantham

“The early interest from homeowners, businesses and Nottingham City Council has been instrumental in Virgin Media being able to fast track our network expansion plans in the area,” said Tom Mockridge, Virgin Media’s CEO.
