TF1 launches digital incubator

French commercial broadcaster TF1 has teamed up with consultancy Paris&Co to create a new digital incubator that will see digital start-ups work with different TF1 units.

The broadcaster said it is reaching out to young, digital companies as part of a ‘test and learn’ initiative.

It said it wants to work with start-ups on novel solutions to the major challenges it faces.

In its call for submissions from digital firms, it said those with expertise in areas including production, distribution, video-on-demand and TV shopping services.

The deadline for applications is September 27. TF1 said that the chosen start-ups will “enjoy 12 months of access to a unique environment that combines the know-how of Paris&Co and the industry expertise of TF1 Group”.

Olivier Abecassis, CEO of eTF1 and Director of Innovation for TF1 Group, adds: “This initiative will allow TF1 Group to forge close partnerships with innovative, agile companies, such as start-ups and SMEs, in particular by exploring new pathways. We are pleased to identify the start-ups that can help us develop new services and products and thus develop new businesses.”
