Turner Broadcasting in the US has turned to on-demand specialist Vubiquity to turn its broadcast content into on-demand assets faster to enable it to make additional revenues within the content’s prime ratings window.

Vubiquity and Turner will capture and broadcast content in the C3 ratings window and distribute it on the on-demand market.

The pair have developed what they say is a first-of-its-kind product that automates, tags and identifies content for C3 capture in high resolution, mezzanine format, and prepares it for immediate VOD and dynamic ad insertion.

C3 refers to the Nielsen ratings window for live programming plus playback by DVR for up to three days after the content is broadcast that was created to enable broadcasters to include viewing on DVRs for a short period after the linear airing of shows.

“Turner is a pioneer of TV Everywhere and shares in Vubiquity’s continued mission to deliver premium content on-demand that’s easily accessible to consumers and measurable through multiple platforms. We’re excited to partner together on this initiative to provide an accurate, automated solution for capturing C3 content that we expect will accelerate this next phase of advertising growth,” said Gabriel Berger, EVP, sales, Vubiquity.

“We’re pleased to have collaborated with Vubiquity on this innovative solution for a more centralized, efficient and automated system to deliver Turner’s VOD content,” said Jennifer Mirgorod, EVP, Brand Distribution of Turner Content Distribution (TCD). “With our increased focus on delivering our programming assets to as many platforms as possible and the imperative need to monetize this content, the partnership with Vubiquity facilitates our objective to streamline and virtualize our content distribution process.”
