Vestel to launch Android TVs and set-top boxes

Consumer electronics company Vestel has announced plans to adopt the Android TV platform for its Ultra High Definition TVs and set-top boxes.

Vestel said that the new TVs and STBs will combine user-friendly TV middleware with the Android ecosystem and will feature an intelligent content search and recommendation engine.

“Android is one of the fastest growing ecosystems globally with more than a billion active devices worldwide and we believe TV solutions will find a solid place in this ecosystem,” said Vestel CEO Turan Erdogan.
