Belarus to complete switchover tomorrow

Belarus will complete its digital switchover process on schedule tomorrow, according to the leading telco, Beltelecom, which has overseen the transition.

According to Beltelecom, the last 10 analogue transmitter sites will be shut down tomorrow, after a process that kicked off in 2013. Belarus has deployed 84 transmitters to give digital coverage across the vast bulk of the country. Beltelecom said the switchover would enable the full deployment of the country’s second, third and subsequent multiplexes, enabling the expansion of the line-up and the launch of HD services.
