The total addressable market for software-defined video solutions will be US$10 billion by 2018, according to Gartner.
The research firm said that software-defined video functionality will account for at least 25% of total communications service provider (CSP) and multi-service operator (MSO)-hosted and managed CDN services revenue.
“Software-defined video provides a new way to engage customers using innovative services,” said Gartner research director, Akshay Sharma. “Newer technologies and processes, will enable the convergence and mutual reinforcement of IT and network trends.”
