Spanish telecom operator Telefónica has begun commercializing a version of its Movistar TV service on Samsung’s smart TV platform.
Movistar TV has become the first service of its type in spain to be made available on Samsung’s 2014 smart TV range, with a launch on 2015 models to follow.
Telefónica is also marketing Samsung’s TVs in its Movistar stores at competitive prices, beginning with an offer of a 40-inch model for €399.
The service is being marketed under the brand Movistar TV Ready. Telefónica says that the service offers theuser an identical experience to that available via set-top boxes.
