SXSW launches channel on Roku

SXSW, the annual music, film, and technology conference and festival that is held in Austin, Texas, has launched a free streaming channel on Roku boxes in the UK, Ireland, US and Canada.

SXSW On will offer on-demand access to original programming along with live and archival performances, interviews and talks from SXSW.

Viewers will be able to access the free content from the event on Roku devices, as well as online via YouTube and on SXSW.com.

“Roku is one of the leading streaming platforms and we’re incredibly excited to bring SXSW into living rooms of Roku customers around the world. Having a dedicated network of original programming through the lens of SXSW is a leap forward for our organisation and promises a bright future as a provider in the media landscape,” said SXSW director of technology, Scott Wilcox.

SXSW will use Brightcove’s suite of video technologies to deliver live and on-demand video experiences for its 2015 event, which runs from March 13 – 22.
