Vodafone Germany has added former Hesse minister-president Roland Koch to its supervisory board as it proceeds to further integrate its operations with cable arm Kabel Deutschland.

Koch was appointed as the joint board met for the first time. In addition to naming the former politician, who also served as chairman of construction group Bilfinger between 2011-14, as a new board member, Vodafone’s board extended the contract of consumer sales MD Peter Walz for a further three years.

Other board members include Kabel Deutschland employee representatives Susanne Aichinger and Irena Gruhne, and Vodafone’s Vera Schilling. Vodafone Europe CEO Philipp Humm serves as chairman, with Toni Wolf, chairman of the Vodafone Germany works council, as deputy.

Kabel Deutschland, which is publicly listed, still has a separate supervisory board headed by Vodafone Germany CEO Jens Schulte-Bockum.
