NHK World TV launches on TVPlayer in the UK

TVPlayerNHK World TV, the English-language news and lifestyle television network from Japanese public broadcaster NHK, has launched on the TVPlayer live streaming service in the UK.

The deal was agreed between NHK’s distribution company Japan International Broadcasting and Simplestream, which owns and operates TVPlayer – a UK OTT platform that streams more than 50 live TV channels across multiple devices.

NHK World TV broadcasts 24-hours a day and airs programmes including the network’s signature news show, Newsline, and technology, lifestyle and entertainment programmes including J-Tech, Tokyo Fashion Express and Sports Japan.

“It’s really important that we offer as wide a range of content as possible to our users on TVPlayer. With NHK World TV now available on TVPlayer across multiple devices, including channel 241 on Freeview, we can now bring a diverse range of quality Japanese programming to the masses here in the UK,” said TVPlayer’s commercial director Dan Finch.
