Brightcove tops revenue expectations, appoints CMO

Brightcove dual-screen-v3Brightcove reported revenues and profits that “exceeded expectations” in its fourth quarter, and has appointed former AT&T executive Neil Lieberman as chief marketing officer.

Announcing results for the three months ended December 31, Brightcove reported revenues of US$31.4 million, up 5% year-on-year, while gross profit was $20.2 million, compared to $19.8 million for the same quarter in 2013.

“From a revenue growth and profitability perspective, we anticipate accelerating revenue growth throughout the year, while generating positive non-GAAP operating income during the fourth quarter,” said Brightcove CEO David Mendels.

However, the firm’s net loss for the quarter was US$3.9 million, compared to a smaller loss of US$1.2 million for Q4 2013.

Lieberman joins the company as CMO having previously worked as marketing chief for VFA, a provider of cloud-based facilities capital planning software and services, and before that as executive director of unified communications at AT&T.

“I am delighted to join the Brightcove team at this exciting time in the company’s history. The exponential growth of video across multiple devices shows its potential to be the most influential media in the world for evoking and conveying emotions and ideas,” said Lieberman.
