The standard-definition version of the channel, which airs a mix of Ukrainian and Russian music, has been available since 2005.
Rudolf Kirnos, the channel’s owner, said that the broadcaster was taking the risk of launching what he said was central and eastern Europe’s first homegrown HD music channel at a time of economic difficulty for Ukraine.
Volia marketing director Viktoriya Tsomaya said that the cable operator was always ready to support partners that invested in the future.
RU Music HD will be available in the cmopany’s Volia HD, Powertime, Optimal HD, Premier HD and Vlia Extra HD packages.
