UPC Austria adds HD services

Liberty Global-owned cable operator UPC Austria has begun distributing the Austrian public broadcaster’s ORF III and ORF Sport+ channels in HD.

ORF III HD and ORF Sport+ HD will be shown in all regions of the operator’s footprint.

UPC is also airing all nine regional variants of ORF 2 news service Bundesland Heute in HD, with the exception of the services in Burgenland and Salzburg.

In addition, UPC is extending the availability of regional services KT1 and Tirol TV throughout Austria in standard definition as part of the UPC TV Mini starter pack. The operator has also introduced the Austria localised version of Discovery’s DMAX channel in place of German DMAX, and migrated the channel from UPC TV Plus to the UPC TV Start pack to give it greater visibility.
