SPI International is rebranding its premium film channel for central and eastern Europe to reflect the addition of new content from major US TV and film distributors.
FilmBox Extra will now become FilmBox Premium in Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Romania.
The broadcaster said the move would enable it distinguish its flagship premium channel from other FilmBox-branded channels offered in basic, extended basic and premium tiers across the region.
“We are currently negotiating new acquisition deals with major U.S. distributors and we expect to air a number of first-run feature movies on FilmBox Premium by the end of this year,” said Berk Uziyel, executive director of Filmbox International.
“We want to make sure that our subscribers have total clarity as to which one of our numerous channels carries the most recent movie premieres and new TV series.”
