Sky Deutschland is due to exclusively launch a channel in December to show all six Star Wars movies around the clock, in what it claims will be a German TV first.
The Sky Star Wars HD channel, which will broadcast from December 1 to 14, will also air featurettes and documentaries about the sci-fi franchise.
“We are well aware that 18 December 2015 is much too long for fans to wait until the release of Star Wars: Episode VII. Many thanks to our outstanding partners Disney and Lucasfilm for the opportunity to exclusively offer Sky Star Wars HD,” said Gary Davey, executive vice president programming at Sky Deutschland.
“For someone who has been a Star Wars fan since the first film 37 years ago, this project is a dream come true. Anakin, Luke, Leia, Han – in December the entire Star Wars family is coming to one channel, around the clock. This is the sensation of the TV winter in Germany and Austria.”
Sky Star Wars HD will air in Germany and Austria and will take the place of the Sky Hits channel.
