New BBC Trust chairman takes up post

Rona Fairhead has started her new role as chairman of the BBC Trust today. 

Fairhead was appointed at a meeting of the Privy Council yesterday.

Fairhead was chairman and CEO of the Financial Times Group from 2006-13, having previously been group finance director of its parent company, Pearson. Prior to joining Pearson, she held a variety of senior positions in financial and global businesses including ICI. She is currently on the board of HSBC Holdings and PepsiCo and is non-executive chairman of HSBC Northern America Holdings.
